In the residential design of MONTEREY in Tseung Kwan O, the designer aimed to create a modern, comfortable, and tasteful living space that seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetics. The design carefully considers details and the efficient use of space, with the goal of providing a warm and inviting home environment that meets the client's pursuit of quality living.
Client Expectations
The client desires a residential design that embodies both modernity and comfort, emphasizing the need for well-planned and efficiently utilized spaces to accommodate daily living and social interactions. They also wish for the color scheme and soft furnishings to reflect unique tastes, creating a relaxed yet stylish atmosphere.
Living Room Design
The living room features a light color palette, with beige wallpaper on the walls and wooden flooring, fostering a warm and cozy ambiance. An L-shaped gray sofa adorned with various colored and textured cushions occupies the main area, forming a comfortable relaxation zone while adding visual layers. Behind the sofa, three abstract art pieces enhance the artistic feel, complemented by a round black glass coffee table that is both attractive and functional. Basic lighting is provided by surface-mounted downlights in the ceiling, while a floor lamp next to the sofa adds localized illumination. The entire living-dining area is enhanced by perimeter lighting that brightens the space, with additional lighting above the TV area creating a visual focal point.
Dining Area
Adjacent to the living room, the dining area forms an open-plan public space that enhances transparency and interaction. A white marble dining table with black metal legs presents a simple yet stylish design, accompanied by four gray dining chairs. A tall dark storage cabinet next to the dining table features an open section in the middle for displaying decor or frequently used items while keeping dining essentials organized.
Master Bedroom
In the master bedroom, a deep gray upholstered headboard pairs with white bedding and gray nightstands to create a stable and comfortable sleeping environment. A metallic butterfly wall decoration above the headboard adds an artistic touch. The full-height white wardrobe is well-organized, providing ample storage for clothing. Soft background lighting is provided by hidden LED strips in the ceiling, with bedside lamps on either side of the bed for nighttime convenience.
Secondary Bedroom
The secondary bedroom emphasizes warmth through beige and light brown tones, with coordinated bedding and curtains enhancing harmony. The headboard features soft upholstery, accompanied by nightstands and lamps. A small workspace at the foot of the bed includes a desk and chair, while an embedded wardrobe maximizes space efficiency.
Study Room
The study room features a tatami-style design that integrates sleeping, storage, and work functions. Beneath the tatami platform are numerous drawers and compartments for storage, while an expansive desk surface allows for work or study activities. Above this workspace, shelves provide space for decorative items and frequently used books. Overall illumination is provided by recessed ceiling lights, with a desk lamp ensuring adequate lighting for reading or working. This thoughtful design approach at MONTEREY not only meets functional needs but also creates an aesthetically pleasing environment that reflects modern living standards.
